7) Wonder Woman
Sharpen your spears, I’m coming for Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot was one of the only good things that came out of BvS last year, so seeing her take the reins of her only film is pretty great. Couple that with a pretty spectacular trailer, this one seemed like the WW movie I had been dying to see.
Let’s take a closer look, though. Chris Pine is back to charmingly fast talk as Steve Trevor, a role he’s played nearly every time he’s cast. A role that, let’s be honest with each other here, only works when he’s James T. Kirk. There’s also that pesky little letter where the disgruntled employee of WB tore Wonder Woman a new one, warning people of the disaster that it is. On top of that, there’s also the WB/DC track record of making abysmal films. Am I to believe that WB, before seeing the atrocious reviews and the fans turn on them in droves, just decided to throw a masterpiece together after insisting on producing steaming piles of trash?
The fact of the matter is, I want this one to be good. I’m begging for this to be good. I just know that DC excels at making an incredible trailer and falling to pieces when it comes to delivering the goods.
6) Kong: Skull Island
This is the part of the list where the redeeming qualities start to become thin. The main thing about this is how awesome the cast is. Sam Jackson, Toby Kebbell, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Brie Larson and Tom freaking Hiddeleston round out the top billing which is an impressive set of names.
How many times do I have to watch this one though? We just saw it in 2005 from Peter Jackson and people are STILL complaining about it. I know the thing to do is hit reboot all the time, but this is going to be at least the fourth iteration of this story that I’m expected to watch. Is the possibility of a Kong vs. Godzilla movie really supposed to be entice me to see this one?
Despite how many great names are attached to this one, you may want to skip out on it.
