Resident Evil 7’s Most Terrifying Moments
Capcom’s surprise reveal of Resident Evil 7 at E3 2016 and the subsequent announcement that the game would release six months later was one of the biggest moments of 2016. The company promised it would return back to the horror roots of the franchise, and it seems like most fans are happy with the result. Now that the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time – yes, I love Resident Evil 6 – has finally arrived, it’s time to find out which moments in the game are the spookiest of them all. Here are the 10 most terrifying moments in Resident Evil 7.

10. Boathouse Jack Fight
Hey look! You’ve got the cure, and you can go home now! Oh wait, mutated Jack just busted through the wall and wants to eat you. I don’t know if the voice cracks and haunting dialogue of Jack was more terrifying, or his upside Cyclops face. And after things dies down for a bit as you shoot him in his weakpoints, Jack bellows a long and eerie, “Hungry!” It seems I may be more terrified of the voice acting than the in-game action. I can get the faces out of my head, but the sounds are forever.
9. Entering The Mines
There’s no specific part during the mine section that’s more terrifying than another moment. The entire segment is just one long, eerie nightmare. Only being able to see a few yards ahead of you and hearing the twisted noises of the Molded surrounding you in every which direction is an uneasy feeling. And Eveline’s jump scares is the cherry on top of the vile, malevolent cake.
8. Confronting Eveline
For a while I thought Resident Evil 7 would pull a fast one and replace a predictable final boss fight with something more unique. Maybe Eveline is defeated in a non-violent and calm manner. Silly me! After more insidious dialogue the Capcom team insisted on including, the game ends battling a giant face with your back against a wall. But don’t fret! You get tossed out of the claustrophobic room and out into the open before you finish the fight and attempt to reclaim you sanity. Hey look, it’s the Umbrella Corporation!
