Let’s Duck! Opens Free Steam Playtest for Its Quirky Co-Op Roguelike Adventure

Defend Your Pond in Let’s Duck!

Basemint Studios has opened a free Steam Playtest for Let’s Duck!, a quirky co-op roguelike that puts players in control of rubber ducks fighting to protect their pond. Interested players can jump in through the game’s Steam page to play the first three maps and their bosses, solo or with up to three friends online.

What makes Let’s Duck! stand out is its unusual approach to character progression. Instead of relying on traditional weapons, players use hats, jackets, and accessories as their primary skills. From pirate hats that launch cannonballs to shower caps that spray water jets and scarves that unleash swirling feathers, every piece of clothing brings something different to combat. These abilities activate automatically while players swim, dash, and quack their way through waves of enemies.

As enemies drop breadcrumbs, players can upgrade their builds with level-up cards or gamble on casino-style reels that can improve their entire hand.

The full game will feature 67 wearable items, 10 maps, and unique bosses, each with an especially challenging final phase. Players can also complete missions, decorate their pond, and unlock 41 trophies. Additional features include full controller support, 12 interface languages, and a colourblind mode.

Solo developer Filip says the game aims to deliver a fun survivors-like experience that friends can enjoy together. The developer is also encouraging players to share feedback during the Playtest.

With its ridiculous outfits, unusual combat mechanics, and online co-op, Let’s Duck! looks like a promising little adventure for roguelike fans. The free Playtest is already available on Steam, so there’s no reason not to give these ducks a chance.
