The Dead Await Is Launching Out of Early Access on 18th May

The Full Version of The Dead Await Is on Its Way

Indie publisher indie.io has confirmed that its upcoming survival RPG The Dead Await will officially leave Early Access and launch in full on May 18, 2026. The project, developed in collaboration with Shotx Studio, is already available for players to try on Steam and the indie.io Store ahead of its complete release.

Set in a sprawling world devastated by a zombie outbreak, The Dead Await places players in charge of a moving caravan of survivors. Exploration plays a central role as players travel through abandoned cities and newly formed settlements. All while managing limited resources, mental stability, and constant threats from both the undead and hostile human factions.

What makes the game stand out is its combination of open-world survival with deck-building mechanics. Players build and refine their decks, shape character builds through skills and perks, and take on encounters using card-based combat. This system pushes players to think ahead, adapt quickly, and make every move count.

Throughout the journey, players face difficult choices that directly affect their caravan’s survival and their chances of rebuilding society. Each decision carries weight, adding tension and depth to the overall experience.

The full release is expected to build upon player feedback gathered during Early Access. It will introduce a more polished experience along with its final act. There will be new challenges, expanded systems, and higher stakes that aim to deepen the overall journey.

With its 1.0 launch approaching, The Dead Await is shaping up to be a noteworthy entry in the survival RPG space. Players interested in a slower, strategy-driven take on the zombie genre may want to keep this one on their radar.
