INFERIUS Opens Its Gates on Steam With a Playable Early Demo

Enter the Haunting World of INFERIUS

The small indie studio from Canada, Lucid Rain Studios, has announced that an early demo of its upcoming title INFERIUS is now available on Steam. It’s a first-person horror deckbuilder set in a nightmarish interpretation of Dante’s Inferno. Curious players can dive into the demo and get a first-hand experience of the game, which the developers described as Inscryption meets Amnesia.

INFERIUS

The demo offers a short but focused look at the core gameplay systems. Players can explore the opening descent into the world of INFERIUS from a first-person perspective while learning the game’s Tarot-based deckbuilding combat. It also includes one of the early Dominion encounters, introducing players to one of the powerful rulers that inhabit the depths of the Inferno.

Combat revolves around building and refining a deck based on Major Arcana Tarot cards. Players can prepare for battles by enhancing cards with sigils and brands, stacking effects to gain an advantage against the increasingly dangerous creatures that appear throughout the nine levels of Hell. The roguelike structure encourages experimentation, with repeated runs helping players refine their strategies.

Exploration plays an equally important role. A lantern allows players to manipulate parts of the environment while navigating dark and twisted areas filled with nightmarish enemies. As players descend deeper, the horrors of the Inferno begin to test both their survival skills and their sanity.

Overall, the early demo promises to provide a first look at INFERIUS. While it represents only a small portion of the full game, it offers enough to showcase the project’s unique blend of horror atmosphere and strategic deckbuilding. Players interested in the concept can now try the demo on Steam and see what the developers have been building.
