Kumitantei: Old-School Slaughter Is Bringing Its First Chapter on Steam This April

Solve the Murder Mystery in Kumitantei: Old-School Slaughter

Indie developer Mango Factory and publisher Akupara Games have announced that the first episode of their episodic murder mystery adventure, Kumitantei: Old-School Slaughter, will arrive on Steam on April 23rd. The game’s debut chapter will introduce players to a tense and mysterious setting where survival depends as much on strategy and relationships as it does on observation.

Kumitantei: Old-School Slaughter

In an alternate version of the Empire of Japan, the title of “Absolute” represents the highest level of achievement. Those who earn it are celebrated with wealth, prestige, and admiration. However, for the Class of ’89, that recognition means very little once they find themselves trapped within the strange and isolated halls of the Janus Institute. Students known for unique talents such as Absolute Barista or Absolute Beekeeper quickly discover that their impressive titles offer little protection in this dangerous environment. In this place, survival depends on careful decisions and a bit of luck.

Inspired by classic mystery adventure games such as Danganronpa, players spend time interacting with their fellow classmates, who are now unwilling participants in a mysterious experiment. Each conversation offers a chance to learn more about the Absolutes and the lives they led before arriving at the institute.

During Free Time Events, players can build trust with other students through thoughtful dialogue. Strengthening these relationships unlocks Skill Cards that you can use during trials. However, pushing too hard or making the wrong choices may create new enemies.

In Kumitantei, alliances constantly shift, turning friends into suspects and suspects into unlikely allies. When the Clinical Trials begin, every relationship and decision may shape the outcome of the investigation. So, do you think you have what it takes to bring justice? Find out when the first episode arrives on 23rd April.
