Dead Pets Unleashed Finds New Life With Akupara Games

Good News for Dead Pets Unleashed

Akupara Games is officially reviving Dead Pets Unleashed, a punk rock feminist adventure once thought lost to industry cutbacks. Originally developed by Triple Topping, the studio behind Welcome to Elk and Ynglet, the game seemed destined to become another victim of the 2023 downturn. When Triple Topping closed its doors, its future looked uncertain. But after months of behind-the-scenes work, Akupara Games has stepped in to complete the project, collaborating with former Triple Topping developers to ensure the original vision remains intact.

Buddy Sola, the Head of Marketing at Akupara Games, explained: “The industry is in a place where everyone is looking for a reason to say ‘no,’ to pull funding, to cancel projects, and we wanted to be the team who does the opposite of that. Who can take an interesting, unique project like Dead Pets, made by a clever team of talented artists, and bring that to fans.”

Dead Pets Unleashed follows Gordy, a thirty-something demon juggling the chaos of adult life with her dream of making it big in her underground punk band, Dead Pets. Between band practice, late-night gigs, and diner shifts, Gordy also faces the daily grind of scraping by in a cramped apartment while trying to hold everything together. Players will dive into mini games, explore slice-of-life conversations, and move to an energetic punk soundtrack while deciding how Gordy balances ambition with survival.

Now available to wishlist on Steam, the demo offers a glimpse into Gordy’s messy but vibrant world. With its mix of rhythm, narrative, and feminist slice-of-life storytelling, Dead Pets Unleashed is set to deliver an experience as raw and uncompromising as its music.
