Destroy the Peasants in Runeomicon
Runeomicon, the dark fantasy ritual game from TLR Games and publisher Joystick Ventures, is bringing a playable demo during Steam Next Fest starting February 23. In the game, players don’t step into the role of a hero because they become the villain instead. Inside a besieged sanctuary, they must complete a relentless ritual while waves of peasants, priests, and knights storm the gates to stop them. The ritual never pauses, and neither does the pressure.
Players draw ancient runes by hand to generate arcane energy. As enemy waves intensify, rune patterns grow increasingly complex. Fail a rune and gain nothing. Complete it successfully and harness the power to defend the ritual. Summon towers, cast devastating spells, or unleash eldritch creatures to repel the attackers. Alternatively, focus entirely on accelerating the summoning itself and bring forth a god faster.
Six ancient gods await invocation, each dramatically transforming the ritual with new curses, defenses, and destructive abilities. Every successful summoning advances players toward the ultimate goal: calling forth the Goddess of Death. Mastering rune drawing under siege is no easy task, but the Training Room helps players sharpen their skills. With branching upgrades and meaningful trade-offs, every ritual unfolds differently based on player choices.
“Every time someone plays for the first time, they start yelling at the villagers while panicking over the runes. That’s exactly what we wanted. You are not the hero of this story and by the time the runes feel like muscle memory, you stop wanting to be,” says Arturo Monedero of TLR Games.
The Runeomicon demo runs from February 23 to March 2 on Steam. So, make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity to get a first-hand experience of the game.
