A Fresh Wave of Retro Games From Mega Cat Studios
Mega Cat Studios is bringing a fresh wave of retro excitement to classic Nintendo hardware this month with the release of three brand-new games for the NES and Super Nintendo. Known for its creative first approach and love for old school gaming, the indie publisher is once again proving that vintage consoles still have plenty of life left in them.
Launching exclusively through the Mega Cat Studios online store on January 29, the lineup includes Super Fanger for the Super Nintendo, alongside NES titles Old Towers and Plyuk. Each game offers a distinct experience while staying true to the spirit of classic era design.
Super Fanger delivers a fast-paced maze-chasing experience built around frantic multiplayer fun. Players dash through cleverly designed maps, using special abilities and sharp reflexes to chase opponents or stay one step ahead. With a selection of quirky characters, unlockable content, and support for one or two players, it offers both competitive and casual appeal.
Plyuk takes a more thoughtful approach, blending puzzle platforming with atmospheric storytelling. After falling into a secret underground laboratory, Plyuk must escape by mastering the ability to clone himself. The game focuses on cooperation between clones, careful timing, and logical problem solving, all wrapped in a moody 8-bit presentation.
Old Towers rounds out the collection with an action-driven puzzle challenge. Players scale towering levels by dashing across walls, ceilings, and hazards while collecting coins and searching for exits. With more than 40 stages and multiple playable characters, it steadily ramps up complexity and demands precise execution.
Together, these releases highlight Mega Cat Studios’ continued commitment to expanding the NES and SNES libraries with thoughtful, modern retro experiences.
