River City Ransom: Underground Is Getting Delisted From Steam

Thanks, Alex and Ryan, for All the Memories

Conatus Creative Inc. has confirmed that River City Ransom: Underground has started its delisting process on Steam. The removal comes as a result of an expired licensing agreement, which means the game will soon no longer be available for new purchases on the platform. However, it will remain in the library for those who already own the game, and they can download and enjoy it like before.

Here is the full announcement: “Hi everyone, We wanted to share a quick update. Due to the expiration of a licensing agreement, this game will be removed from sale on Steam. The delisting process is currently underway. If you already own the game, nothing changes — it will remain available in your Steam Library, and you can continue to download and play as usual. Thank you to everyone who has supported the game over the years. We truly appreciate it.”

River City Ransom: Underground

River City Ransom: Underground is a modern take on the classic NES-era beat ’em up genre. Set years after Alex and Ryan’s original showdown with Slick, the story follows the duo as they return to the streets of River City to confront a new kidnapping conspiracy. Players explore a large city filled with hostile gangs, hidden secrets, and escalating chaos while earning money, unlocking techniques, and improving their characters through progression systems.

The game features over 500 distinct combat moves, a wide variety of weapons, and a bonus arena mode. Online cooperative play and competitive arena battles support up to four players. The story campaign includes ten playable heroes, each with a unique fighting style, spread across 140 levels filled with hazards, shops, and secrets. An arena combat mode also allows players to unlock up to 44 fighters, including heroes and villains from across the River City universe.
