Some Exciting News for Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrived with a surprise launch on Christmas Day, catching many fans off guard. While the release was exciting, the update did face a few early issues. Creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone quickly acknowledged these problems and assured players that fixes were already in progress. A new update has now been shared, along with clarification on the game’s European release.
Players outside the United States who cannot yet find the Switch 2 Edition on their local eShop do not need to worry. Barone has confirmed that he is intentionally delaying the release in regions such as Europe until the next patch is ready. This upcoming update, described as arriving soon, will fix a crafting-related bug that can cause item loss and will also improve mouse controls on the Switch 2 version. To avoid further issues, the European launch will only go live once this patch is fully implemented.
For those eager to try the updated version immediately, players can still download the game from the US eShop using a US Nintendo Account. The download is approximately 2.3GB and is available as a free upgrade for players who already own Stardew Valley on Switch. New players can purchase the game for $14.99 or the regional equivalent.
Barone has also warned current Switch 2 players about a crafting issue. Crafting certain recipes may unintentionally consume extra items. He advises players to empty their inventory except for the required materials and to avoid using the workbench when crafting affected items. Here is the list of items you must be cautious of while crafting:
- Blue Grass Starter
- Heavy Furnace
- Deluxe Worm Bin
- Fish Smoker
- Mushroom Log
- Speed-Gro
- Treasure Totem
- Statue of Blessings
- Deluxe Bait
- Challenge Bait
- Moss Soup
Beyond these issues, the Switch 2 Edition introduces enhanced features, including four-player split screen, eight-player online multiplayer, and GameShare support, allowing even non-owners to join the experience.
