Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2023
April 2023 continues a strong year for video game releases. It’s a strange batch of top titles, because they’re all games from major franchises and developers, but none of them are guaranteed critical darlings. April has a ton of remasters of beloved cult classics, so instead of the usual monthly runners-up, we’re going to draw attention to those games. Retro fans should keep an eye on GrimGrimoire OnceMore, Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, Akiba’s Trip 2: Director’s Cut, and Ys: Memoire: The Oath In Felghana. Without further ado, the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2023 are:
5. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-boot Camp – April 21
The granddaddy of all the retro remasters releasing in April 2023 is Advance Wars 1+2: Re-boot Camp. This remaster of two beloved Gameboy Advance classics was originally slated for release in December 2021, but was pushed back, then delayed indefinitely because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Nintendo felt because Advance Wars is a series of military-themed strategy JRPGs, it would be poor taste to release them while real-life war was happening. It’s nice of Nintendo to not want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but this particular delay caused more frustration than relief. It’s a Switch exclusive, and the highest profile remaster on the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2023.
4. Meet Your Maker – April 4
Meet Your Maker is a first person shooter. It’s gameplay revolves around players building trap-laden outposts in a post-apocalyptic world. It’s rare for a completely new IP to make it on a list like the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2023, but Meet Your Maker was developed by Behaviour Interactive. They created the insanely beloved Dead by Daylight, so even if Meet Your Maker is only a fraction as popular, it’ll still be a massive release. Meet Your Maker will be available for everything except the Switch.
