Dwarf Fortress Expands Its Team Along With Release of Classic Mode

Kitfox Games, a video game publisher, along with Bay 12 Games, indie developers, released Dwarf Fortress on PC via Steam on December 6th, 2022. Since then, the game has soared in popularity and fought its way to selling 160,000 copies in under 24 hours. Based on the great success of the game, the developers have released an update for the game prior to the end of 2022 and expanded its team for 2023. The game is currently available for $29.99USD.

Via its blog, the team stated, “We have another important update before we are off for the holidays! We are happy to announce that we now have Classic Graphics.” Players that use the classic mode will be able to explore the game in a new way. Furthermore, the company announced that its team has grown due to the success of the Steam launch. Putnam will be joining the team as a programmer while SalfordSal, a content creator, will be joining the community team to assist with Discord.

Besides the Classic Mode, the developers introduced other content in the latest update. Some of this content includes fixes to ambient audio, graphics additions and bug fixes and quality of life changes to improve the overall experience.

In the game, players are given a simple task, build a fortress and try to help dwarves survive despite threats of starvation, madness and even dragons. The game is filled with features to keep it unique and fun.
