Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is Coming to the Switch in September
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the next title in the popular JRPG franchise. Monolith Soft and Nintendo confirmed at today’s Nintendo Direct presentation that they are releasing it this September.
The devs revealed during the announcement that the game will depict the future of the other installments within the series. They treated fans with a new trailer that featured a sprawling war-torn world where giant war machines are present. Characters will have to fight over allegiances.
Although it has just been officially confirmed, the gaming community first got wind of the project through website updates and hints from the game’s voice actors.
“A vast world awaits in Xenoblade Chronicles 3,” Nintendo’s PR confirmed. “Players will step into the roles of protagonists Noah and Mio amid turmoil between the hostile nations of Keves and Agnus.”
“The six characters hailing from those nations will take part in a grand tale with life as its central theme,” the PR post continued. “Explore a new world that will connect the futures of both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, launching for Nintendo Switch in September 2022.”
The two installments prior to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are massive open world third-person RPGs with real-time combat. Each of the titles follows a different cast. In the original game, players got to take the role of Shulk. Shulk is a warrior on a revenge mission after their home got destroyed. In the second game, gamers had to play as Pyra and Rex as they embark on a journey to find a mythical paradise.
Those who have not played any of the earlier games might still recognize some of the characters. After all, Shulk became one of the playable characters in the two most recent Smash Bros. games.
