New Features Revealed for Pokémon Legends: Arceus
The release for Pokémon Legends: Arceus is just a few days away, coming out on the 28th of this month! It claims to be a massive departure from the typical Pokémon formula – one that, for many players, has started to grow stale. That departure has gotten people intrigued, though their hunger for new info has yet to be fully sated. But today, we just received another few morsels that should tide you over for the final few days of waiting.
The “Overview Trailer” for Pokémon Legends: Arceus just dropped. As you’d expect from the name, it goes over quite a few bits of info. Much of it is stuff we knew already, though there’s also fresh content mixed in. Some of which could radically change the way you approach Pokémon’s usual gameplay loop.
First and foremost, the Pokédex here is radically different from previous titles. In those games, you were only expected to encounter a Pokémon once to fill out all the needed info. But in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you’ll be the first person to ever document the inhabitants of the Hisui region. As such, your Pokédex can’t just regurgitate info based off of a simple prompt – you’ll need to see everything a given Pokémon can do – sometimes multiple times. If different Pokemon need different checklists, it could cause a lot more varied gameplay for the end user.
Another feature is the “pastures” that the game offered. Based on the UI, it seems to be a low-tech replacement for the PC box, as a 3D environment you can walk around in. We didn’t get as much info here, though if you can walk around among all your collected friends at once, it could give a whole new meaning to “catching them all”!
