Logic Fixes, Quality of Life Updates, and New Abilities
Madden NFL 22‘s new title update addresses a wide variety of topics, including a new Scouting feature found in Franchise mode, ranked mode in The Yard, a treasure trove of new gameplay abilities, and a ton of bug fixes and quality of life updates. Some additional NFL Authenticity updates will also be packaged in for good measure.
New likenesses have been added for 24 players, including Brandon Aiyuk, Ja’Marr Chase, Caleb Farley, C.J. Henderson, Darnay Holmes, Jaycee Horn, Javon Kinlaw, Trey Lance, John Johnson III, Dalton Schultz, Gerald Everett, and Xavier McKinney. A number of costuming problems have been fixed, as have some lighting issues and a bug where some heads would appeal grey on Gen 4. The 49ers, 1980’s Away, 1994 Away, and 1998
Home/Away have also been given some new throwback uniforms.
Possibly the biggest addition in this update is the Scouting feature, which will provide a completely revamped scouting experience to players who are willing to completely restart their franchise. This first Franchise update will allow you to take a much more careful and meticulous approach to scouting.
“Viewing the National Region of the Region Breakdown map surfaces the identity of the current draft class,” says EA on the subject. “Being able to see the overall positional strengths and weaknesses of the draft class, as well as on a per-region basis, allows you to plan your approach.”
Key aspects of the new Scouting feature include:
- A full scouting department
- In-depth scouting reports including player physicals, traits, and ratings
- News content that will move players up or down the media big board, impacting draft stockÂ
- Mock drafts providing a snapshot of who teams are interested in throughout the season
The update will also bring a list of new abilities to the game, such as Run-Off Elite, On The Ball, Precision Kicker, Crusher, Demoralizer, and Mind Reader (X-Factor). That last ability will not be immediately available in Madden Ultimate Team, though you will be able to get your hands on it in Franchise right off the bat.
