We Salute the Brave Folks Who Did the Math
There are a lot of things to talk about in Resident Evil Village—new trailers, new gameplay footage, collectors’ editions, the possibility of Chris Redfield becoming a werewolf–but right now, the internet can’t stop raving about Lady Dimitrescu, the tall hot vampire lady showcased in the game’s story trailer and its free demo, Maiden. Don’t worry, we’re not here to judge. We totally understand the appeal of a giant vampire noblewoman who can and will eat you alive. We are, however, here to ask the tough questions, like ‘how tall is Lady Dimitrescu, exactly?’ There’s no measurement given in-game. The people need to know.
Fortunately, Kotaku was on the case. It took Ash Parrish just one day and a lot of research to make an educated guess as to the vampire matron’s height. It’s a big–er, bit–hard to make out in this pic, but after Lady Dimitrescu ducks under the courtyard door, her shoulders are about level with the doorframe. A bit of exploring nets players the fact that Castle Dimitrescu dates back to the 15th century, so Parrish looked up the height of a 15th century door and found an example which clocks in at 86 inches tall. The average head is about 8-9 inches high, but Parrish added an extra inch because nothing about this lady is average. That brings the estimation of Lady Dimitrescu’s height to 96 inches tall–i.e. 8 feet or 243 cm. She towers over the game’s heroes, Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield, so she’d definitely tower over us.
Large, in charge, can and will tear you apart with her bare hands. What’s not to love? We’ll be looking forward to seeing more of Lady Dimitrescu when Resident Evil Village launches this spring. In the meantime, feel free to join the online hordes thirsting after this vampiric beauty. Just don’t be surprised if she bites.
Resident Evil Village will be available on May 7th, 2021, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. There is currently a free demo available for PS5.
