Prepare to Battle With Demons in Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom has officially announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on September 4, 2026, arriving a few weeks earlier than previously expected. The upcoming action title will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.

Alongside the release date announcement, Capcom has opened pre-orders for the Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe editions. Players who purchase any edition before September 24 will receive a set of Early Adopter Bonuses, giving fans a few extra rewards for jumping into the game early.

Capcom has also released a free demo across PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The demo lets players experience an early section of the game while getting a feel for its fast-paced sword combat. Those who play the demo and keep their save data will also unlock the Kubi Akari charm as a bonus when the full game launches.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the long-awaited return of the iconic action series after two decades. Set in a dark fantasy version of Edo-period Kyoto, the game follows the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi, who wields the mystical Oni Gauntlet in a battle against demonic forces. Combat combines the series’ signature Issen counterattacks and Soul Absorption mechanics with refined swordplay designed to deliver intense and rewarding encounters.

With an earlier release date and a playable demo already available, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see whether Onimusha can make a triumphant return.
