Nintendo Switch Continues to Smash Nintendo Records
The Nintendo Switch recently surpassed the sales of the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), but the hybrid console continues to perform well. According to the NPD sales numbers from October, the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite sold a combined 735,000+ units in the US alone. This puts the Nintendo Switch at over 22.5 million units sold to date in the US alone. Nintendo Switch Online brings the NES and SNES digital library to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite at $19.99 per year.
Nintendo Switch’s successful October has officially made it the second-highest selling console based on October sales in gaming history. That’s second only to the record already set by Nintendo with the Wii console back in October 2008 which sold an even more impressive 807,000. Taking the October NPD reports into consideration, Nintendo has sold a total of 22.5 million Nintendo Switch units in the US thus far. Considering this is a combined Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite figure, it would be interesting to know which of the two different SKUs sold better this October.
The Nintendo Switch continues to retain its spot as the best-selling video game console for the 23rd month in a row according to the recent October NPD sales figures. NPD says that’s the longest streak for any console since it started tracking sales numbers, showing us what a powerhouse Nintendo’s hybrid console has been. Starting on November 22nd, Nintendo will sell a Nintendo Switch bundle with a download code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a 3-month individual Switch Online subscription for $300 as a Black Friday sale which will likely contribute to successful November numbers as well.
