Coming To Steam At Some Point
The Indie Live Expo 2020 happened yesterday, and with it came a whole bunch of game announcements. One that stood out above the rest (for better or for worse) was Craftopia, a gaming buzzword stew that’s getting a closed alpha release next month. Which buzzwords were added to the pot, you might be asking? All… all of them? Yes, all of them.
Specifically, this game is a Sandbox, Open-World, Survival, Farming, Hack-and-Slash, Factory Management, Hunting, Fantasy RPG. Also there’s a Crafting nestled in there somewhere, between Survival-Farming and Factory Management. To call the game ambitious would be the understatement of the decade. This is to say nothing of the games uhhhh, visual influences.
Yes, the image above features a very familiar paraglider. The rest of the graphics are a strange mashup of anime character models and weirdly-real looking animals, combined with environments that sort of meet in the middle. There’s no release date for the game yet, but a closed alpha is starting next month. If you’re interested in participating, you just have to retweet this announcement and follower the developers on Twitter. Winners will be selected by lottery sometime after June 12th, 2020. You can check out the announcement trailer here.
