Capcom Has Plenty of Tricks up Their Sleeve
As part of their recent fiscal earnings report, Capcom has unveiled their plans to release many multiple major new titles before spring 2021. While rumors of Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 4 Remake have been circling, Capcom hasn’t confirmed what major titles fans can expect between now and April 2021. Capcom also reported record-breaking profits in the past year and apparently they plan to continue that trend. Capcom’s most recent remake centers around Resident Evil 3, with the Resistance multiplayer mode making the game even more replayable than the campaign alone and it’s available for PS4, Xbox One and PC now.
As part of their major plans for this year, Capcom intends to set a new record of 28 million units in sales between now and April 2021, utilizing sales with flexible pricing to expand their digital presence. The developer plans on eight consecutive years operating income growth driven by stable growth of the digital contents business according to their earnings report. Capcom expects to continue to sell back-catalog games while the current generation of consoles transitions into the next during the holiday season. While we aren’t sure what to expect from Capcom next, their intention to continue what they’ve been doing gives us faith in the developer.
During their earnings report, Capcom included factors beyond their control that could affect their intentions for this fiscal year, namely closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes reopening their stores and arcades, pachinko and pachislo halls and it accounts for the delays and cancellations of eSports tournaments and events. The developer intends to streamline the content development process even more while team members work from home to minimize impact. Capcom intends to expand into mobile more while researching 5G technologies in preparation for wider adoption.
