CD Projekt Red Donates Nearly $1 Million to COVID-19 Relief
Renowned Poland developer, CD Projekt Red, has donated $977,000 to help medical health professionals in their country combat COVID-19. Co-founder Marcin Iwinski took to LinkedIn to state the company would donate two million PLN, with the board of directors and shareholders donating another two million PLN, gathering a full four million PLN for medical health professionals in Poland. CDPR has also teamed up with The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity which has been raising money for medical equipment for many years. CDPR’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia when it releases on September 17th.
“Collaborating with Fundacja Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, an established Polish NGO with over 20 years of medical equipment fundraising history, today we donated a sum of 4 million PLN to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Poland,” said Marcin Iwinski on LinkedIn. “The company’s Board of Directors and major shareholders donated 2 million PLN, with another 2 million PLN donated by the company itself. We’d like to thank all the brave souls who fight for our well-being every day and hope these funds help in your effort to rid us of the virus.”
CD Projekt Red is well known for their RPG series known as The Witcher, but they’re currently playtesting their upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 as well. With the game set to release in September, it hopefully won’t be plagued by another delay from the COVID-19 pandemic. Some companies are being impacted by shortages, including some medical health professionals who are short on surgical masks and other important equipment to help them fight the virus. We hope that donations such as the four million PLN help medical health professionals defeat the deadly virus and we’re also thankful for their strength now and forever.
