Leif Erikson Was Definitely a TemplarÂ
Assassin’s Creed has risen from the ashes of mediocrity and returned to what once made the games great. Its greatness is also helped when you are scaling the Pyramids and jumping across the different cities of Ancient Greece. The backdrop of the game really does matter. Historical periods can really make or break the game. A lot of different eras in history have been explored. But now, according to rumors, the next Assassin’s Creed game is going to be taking place in the Viking Age.
This is not entirely a new rumor as there have been whisperings about this since the series inception. According to Daily Gaming Report who has cited anonymous sources, the next AC game will be titled Assassin’s Creed: Ragnarok.
Moving to the Vikings would not be a bad idea. There are tons of people who are fascinated with the time period. Especially the mythological element. Thanks to games like God of War and superheroes like Thor, the public has been happily eating up Accident Scandinavian culture.
The only issues that come with traveling to this point in history are the lack of large cities to scale. The Viking world was not exactly a bustling metropolis but rather a bunch of small villages and towns. Scaling tall buildings has been a staple of the Assassin Creed series since the original and it would be tough to make the transition without being historically inaccurate. But then again, the Assassin Creed series has never had a problem of changing up actual historical events in order to fit a narrative.
According to the leaks, the next AC game is going to be aiming for the next-gen of consoles. So we’ll have to wait a while.
