Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince Releases With the Trine: Ultimate Collection
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince and the Trine: Ultimate Collection will release worldwide on October 8th on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Trine 4 continues the story of the series while the Trine: Ultimate Collection includes Trine Enchanted Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power. These games will be getting released digitally and physically but long-time Trine fans should look at the retail copies as they come with bonus content.
After the 3-D adventure of Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, Frozenbyte is returning to their 2.5D roots with Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince. Conveniently for anyone who picks up Trine 4 and really enjoys it at launch, they’ll be able to retrace the footsteps Frozenbyte took to get to where the series is today with the Trine: Ultimate Collection. We briefly talked about the return to 2.5D here when they were announced together and now they’ll be released together. We’re happy that the Nintendo Switch is part of the console lineup officially now so gamers can take the entire Trine experience on the go.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince has pre-order content at retail and the Trine: Ultimate Edition comes with the original soundtrack, digital art book, a world map and a reversible cover sheet. Die hard Trine fans will likely hunt the retail copies while new fans may consider the convenience of digital downloads more appealing. Frozenbyte’s Kai Tuovinen recently said during an interview that the developers intended on properly balancing all the characters and making puzzles more interesting and difficult.
