Get Ready to Tetris to the Death
Well, it’s happened. Battle Royale has come to Tetris, and it’s a free-to-play Nintendo Switch title that was released during today’s Direct.
Oh, how we would laugh. “What next,” we would jest, “Battle Royale Tetris?!” Well, here we are.
It’s called Tetris 99, and yes, you play against 99 other players as you compete to be the last one standing. As with other battle games in the series, you can complete lines to fill up your opponent’s screen, and its promising upcoming in-game events. Between this and last year’s acclaimed Tetris Effect, it’s a damn good time to be a fan. The only catch is that you need to be subscribed to NES Online to get in on it.
Also during today’s direct, Nintendo also announced a remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, as well as Super Mario Maker 2 for the Switch. Let us know if you think of a new game to joke about them bringing Battle Royale to in the comments.
