It’s Been Years Since Either Franchise Has Had An Entry
Fans of Prince of Persia and fans of Splinter Cell have one important thing in common: both of their series have been dormant for years now so both fanbases are itching for a new entry.
However, according to Ubisoft, it’s “not a question of will, it’s a question of means” when it comes to making a new game for either series.
“I love Splinter Cell. I love Prince of Persia. I can’t disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources,” explained Ubisoft’s Chief Creative Officer, Serge Hascoet, to Game Informer recently. “It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of means.”
Both franchises have gone through a dry spell and it currently seems like Prince of Persia won’t see a new entry on current-gen consoles. However, a Ubisoft developer tweeted in January that the company was trying to make a new game in the series.
When it comes to Splinter Cell, Ubisoft has previously said they’re planning to make a new game but just aren’t ready to talk about their plans in detail.
