Kiwami 3 Comes to Japan Later This Week
Yakuza Kiwami 2 isn’t even in players hands yet here in the west, but in Japan fans will be playing Kiwami 3 later this week, and SEGA has released a handful of minigame screenshots to remind them why they love the series so much in the first place.
I mean, the Godfather-esque storytelling and 3D Streets of Rage-like combat are both amazing as well, but the minigames put a lighthearted touch on an otherwise brutal, seedy underworld of Japan. Having not played the series myself until recently with Yakuza 0, I’m not too sure what these minigames looked like back on the PS3 where the game originally launched, but I’m glad to see they still look as gorgeous and detailed as they are in 0.
SEGA is putting the pedal to the metal with the Yakuza series, as Kiwami 3 launches in Japan nearly in tandem with Kiwami 2’s launch here in the west later this month, and the developer is aiming for fall and spring releases in Japan for Kiwami 4 and 5 respectively.
Be sure to check out our reviews of Yakuza 0 (which recently came to PC), Kiwami, and the most recent entry in the series, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (which is also getting it’s own PC port). Additionally, a demo for Kiwami 2 is available on PSN right now.
Yakuza 0, Kiwami, and 6 are all currently available for PS4.
