Cut Down the Masters in Burning Sword: Death Sun
Fans of wuxia-inspired action can now get an early taste of Burning Sword: Death Sun, as Nomadic Games and Rising Tide Publishing have released a brand-new demo on Steam. The demo is available to play for free, and the devs have rebuilt it to get players into the sword-swinging action much faster.
The new version puts a stronger focus on fast and precise swordplay inspired by classic wuxia cinema. It also introduces light roguelite elements, allowing players to experiment with different playstyles across multiple attempts without changing the game’s skill-based combat and challenging difficulty.
Burning Sword: Death Sun follows Zhang Yixian, leader of the Crimson Dust Demon Sect. He returns from the brink of death with one goal: take down Gao Tianqi, master of the deadly Death Sun poison and the most powerful figure in the martial world. Getting to him means cutting through every master who stands in Zhang’s way.
Combat is built around several interconnected mechanics. Players can charge up the Burning Sword to make each strike hit harder. The game also features Qi powers, special abilities, and ranged attacks. Running out of Qi, however, starts draining Zhang’s health. Other abilities include Qi Drain and Rebound attacks that turn objects into weapons. There is also Qinggong movement that lets players run across walls and reach hard-to-access areas.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5 by a 25-person team in Bangkok, Burning Sword: Death Sun looks like a stylish and brutal wuxia adventure. The new demo gives players a chance to see if they have what it takes to survive its sword fights.
