Take Down the Mokdu King in Aksun
Aksun is getting a major upgrade, and things are about to get a lot bloodier. Developer Wayway Inc. has released Update 0.10.4 for its Korean shamanism-inspired hack-and-slash roguelite, bringing a new Mokdu King boss encounter, gameplay improvements, and a visual overhaul to Chapter 4.
The update introduces the first phase of the Mokdu King fight, which takes place in the Sanctuary of the Crimson Order. Players must battle waves of enemies while destroying four ritual altars that fuel the boss’s power. With new attacks, animations, and environmental effects, the encounter adds another challenging test for players exploring the game’s cursed world.
Combat and progression have also received some notable changes. The Along With the Gods feature now offers players a choice between switching weapons to earn a random Weapon Resonance upgrade or keeping their current weapon to receive a Forging reward. Meanwhile, reworked Blood Peonies make Possession resources easier to collect, and new breakable Gwigoksam objects drop stamina recovery pickups.
The update also gives Chapter 4 a visual refresh, introducing redesigned transition areas, darker ritual imagery, and improved boss introductions. Wayway Inc. has additionally addressed several issues involving targeting, boss sequences, environmental visibility, and audio.
For those unfamiliar with Aksun, the game combines fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with roguelite progression, weapons, and elemental artifacts. Its Korean folklore-inspired setting gives the experience a distinctive identity, while its combat rewards players who carefully read enemy attacks and time their moves.
Wayway Inc. plans to introduce additional phases of the Mokdu King encounter in future updates as development continues.
Aksun is available now on Steam Early Access, with a limited-time 20% discount bringing its price down to $9.59. With a new boss fight and plenty of improvements, this update gives players a solid reason to jump back into the action.
