Follow Us Receives First Major Update With Reworked Level and Steam Deck Support

Follow Us Early Access Roadmap Is Currently on Hold

Game Atelier has released the first major Early Access update for its asymmetrical horror game Follow Us, bringing a significantly reworked second level alongside several highly requested quality-of-life improvements. However, the update also comes with the disappointing news that active development on the game will be paused due to lower-than-expected sales.

The biggest highlight of the update is a complete overhaul of Level 2, “A Night with DJ Susan.” After listening to community feedback, the developers acknowledged that many players found the stage less engaging and less frightening than the rest of the game. In response, the team rebuilt the level from the ground up, and the redesigned version is now available for all players.

Beyond the revamped stage, the update introduces full controller support, Steam Deck compatibility, and a new character selection feature that allows players to switch character skins. These additions aim to improve accessibility and enhance the overall gameplay experience.

Despite delivering these improvements, Game Atelier confirmed that it can no longer sustain an active development team for Follow Us. The studio explained that the self-funded project, including development, localization, marketing, public relations, and creator outreach, did not reach a large enough audience to support continued production.

Although new content is now on hold, Follow Us will remain available to play, and the developers will continue monitoring player feedback while addressing bugs whenever possible. The team also expressed hope that it may eventually return to the project if circumstances improve.

While the future of Follow Us remains uncertain, this update ensures players have a more polished experience and shows the developers’ commitment to supporting the community despite the project’s current challenges.
