Unravel the Dark Secrets in Welcome to Elderfield
Solo developer Chris Cote and publisher Kwalee have officially launched Welcome to Elderfield on PC via Steam, inviting players into a charming small town where cozy living meets unsettling cosmic horror. The hand-drawn RPG is available for $17.99 / €17.99 / £15.99, with a 10% launch discount offered during its first two weeks.
At first glance, Elderfield looks like the perfect place to settle down. You can build a farm, decorate your home, fish, cook, mine for resources, and even befriend or romance the town’s eccentric residents. But beneath its peaceful surface lies a world filled with eldritch beings, bizarre local news, and mysteries that grow stranger with each passing day.
The game’s standout feature is its unique blend of life simulation and horror. Farming goes beyond planting ordinary crops, as players can grow pumpkins alongside unsettling harvests like teeth and eyeballs while keeping invasive tentacles from overtaking their land. Strange livestock and otherworldly visitors ensure that no two days feel quite the same.
Combat also plays a major role, featuring a strategic turn-based system where buffs, equipment, and carefully managed resources are essential for surviving encounters with Lovecraftian horrors. Players who prefer a relaxed experience can choose the cozy difficulty, while tougher settings offer a much more punishing adventure.
To celebrate the launch, Welcome to Elderfield has also joined forces with Look Outside, Bloomtown, and Graveyard Keeper for special Steam bundles that include additional discounts.
If you are a fan of cozy games with a dark supernatural twist, Welcome to Elderfield is an intriguing new indie release worth keeping an eye on.
