The underground has never looked this weird. Devolver Digital and Team Lazerbeam have officially launched Shroom and Gloom in Steam Early Access. It is a chaotic blend of roguelike dungeon crawling, dual-deck card battles, and grotesque mushroom monsters. You can purchase the game right now for just $14.99.
Set in a surreal world where fungi have completely taken over, Shroom and Gloom throws players into hand-drawn dungeons packed with bizarre enemies, hidden secrets, and unpredictable runs. Its biggest twist is the game’s two-deck system: the Explore Deck lets you uncover new paths, smash barriers, unlock doors, and manipulate the environment. On the other hand, the Combat Deck unleashes devastating attacks against the twisted creatures lurking below.
Every run offers new opportunities to build an overpowered deck. Players can also upgrade the cards endlessly, allowing humble starter abilities to evolve into devastating attacks. The rare cards can even become game-breaking superweapons. Even fallen enemies have a purpose: as you can skewer, roast, and eat them to recover health. Or you can toss them into a pot to brew powerful soups that can completely change your strategy.
The Early Access release already packs plenty of content, including five playable characters, two unique routes leading to the mysterious realm known as The Gloom, exclusive card pools, and numerous quests that unlock additional rewards. More dungeons, enemies, cards, and gameplay features are planned throughout Early Access.
