New Actions and Units Await in Super Robot Wars Y
Super Robot Wars Y is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the long-running tactical RPG franchise with a brand-new content update, giving players plenty of reasons to return to the battlefield. The update is available today on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The free anniversary update introduces two special commemorative missions. One celebrates the SUPER ROBOT WARS series reaching an impressive 20 million copies sold, while the other marks the franchise’s 35th anniversary. Players can also take advantage of a raised pilot level cap, which now extends to level 200, allowing for even greater character progression.
Another major addition is the new BOOST mode. Designed to help players progress faster, the mode doubles experience points, credits, and MXP earned during gameplay. It also reduces the costs of aircraft upgrades and pilot training, making it easier to strengthen teams and experiment with different builds.
Alongside the free update, Bandai Namco has released the paid Anniversary Expansion Pack. The DLC adds 33 new Area Missions, 12 new weapons that can be equipped across all units, five new playable units, and a new Assist Crew Member. Players who purchase the expansion will also receive an exclusive Anniversary Expansion Purchase Bonus.
Super Robot Wars Y continues the franchise’s signature blend of strategic grid-based battles, spectacular attack animations, and crossover storytelling that brings together iconic mecha anime series.
