Join the Action in Kungfu Card
Martial arts and tactical card battles come together in Kungfu Card, which has officially entered Early Access on Steam today. Developed by ZeroCastle Game Studio and Miwu Studio and published by 2P Games, the game costs $4.99 / £4.59 / €5.19. Players can also grab it at a 10% launch discount for the first 14 days.
The game also previously won Dice Con’s Best Chinese Indie Board Game of the Year, and its latest trailer gives players another look at its fast-paced martial arts-inspired gameplay.
Rather than relying on complicated energy systems, Kungfu Card focuses on mind games and tactical decisions. Players use hand rankings from 1 to 9 alongside four basic moves: Fist, Palm, Leg, and Elbow. By combining these moves, players can create different martial arts combos and counter their opponents.
The game takes inspiration from classic Hong Kong kung fu movies, allowing players to switch between Offensive, Defensive, and Feint Stances during battles. Players can also use the Disrupt ability to interrupt their opponent’s plans and turn a losing situation around.
Kungfu Card currently offers 1v1 ranked matches, local multiplayer battles, and a solo campaign. The developers also plan to add a solo PvE roguelike adventure and a Free-for-All Pillar mode supporting between two and eight players.
With its simple mechanics and focus on reading your opponent, Kungfu Card looks like an interesting pick for players who enjoy tactical card games with a martial arts twist. And the Early Access release should give the developers plenty of room to expand that idea further as well.
