Unravel an Emotional Tale in The Weeping Swan
2P Games and Zerocreation Games, the creators of the million-selling visual novel The Hungry Lamb, have officially announced their next project, The Weeping Swan. The upcoming title is set to launch on Steam on April 2, priced at $11.99, £9.99, and €11.79, with a 10 percent discount available during its first week.
Building on the dark tone that defined their previous release, the new visual novel takes players into a grim chapter of history, set against the backdrop of the Yangzhou Massacre. The story blends real eyewitness accounts with elements of dark fantasy, drawing inspiration from the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West.
Set in 1645 during the fall of the Ming Dynasty, the narrative follows Fang Zhiyou, a grief-stricken scholar who has lost his sanity. He awakens inside the Lion Camel Kingdom, a twisted world shaped by his own writings and the horrors of real events. In this distorted city where humans appear as beasts, he must protect a mysterious young girl who reflects the memory of his lost love.
The Weeping Swan features a massive narrative spanning over 450,000 words, offering multiple endings and numerous deadly outcomes. The game also stands out for its distinctive art style, combining hand-painted oil textures with a modern anime look. Returning players can also expect a bonus chapter that revisits the story of Liang and Sui from The Hungry Lamb.
