Dive Into the Battlefield in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam
Team17 and Expression Games have kicked off the first open crossplay playtest for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, giving PC and console players a chance to experience the upcoming tactical shooter together for the first time. Alongside the playtest, the developers have also released the first part of a new Command Post developer Q&A, offering fresh details on the game’s progress and future.
In the latest developer update, Game Director Paul “Rushy” Rustchynsky, Studio Technical Director Keiran D’Archambaud, Senior Art Director Ryan Howard, and Development Director Sam Warren discussed several aspects of the project. The team shared insights into performance improvements, gameplay mechanics, weapon development, roadmap teasers, and the design philosophy behind the game’s Vietnam-inspired battlefields.
The open playtest will introduce players to the brand-new Đắk Tô Airfield map, inspired by the Battle of Đắk Tô in November 1967. Set around a strategically important U.S. airfield in South Vietnam’s Central Highlands, the battlefield features a long runway scarred by artillery craters and abandoned military vehicles. The open terrain creates a different tactical experience compared to dense jungle maps, making communication, teamwork, and coordinated movement essential for survival.
The playtest runs from Friday, July 24, at 2 PM BST (6 AM PDT) until Monday, July 27, at the same time. It is available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Steam users can request access through the game’s store page, while console players can download the dedicated “Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Playtest” application from their respective digital stores. PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Essential is required for console participation.
With crossplay finally opening up and a new battlefield to explore, this weekend offers fans an exciting early look at what could become the most ambitious Hell Let Loose experience yet.
