John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Unleashes the Urban Blight Update on PC and Consoles

The Carnage Awaits in John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released a fresh wave of chaos for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando with the release of the “Urban Blight” update, now live across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Available as a free update for all players, this latest drop expands the game with a new mission, additional enemies, weapons, and a set of evolving challenges.

Set one year after the main storyline, the Urban Blight mission shifts the action into a dense city environment where humanity once again repeats its mistakes. The shady Hopewell company attempts to weaponize the dangerous sludge, putting the world on the brink of another disaster. As expected, the Commandos return to contain the outbreak and clean up the mess before it spirals out of control.

The update introduces a notable gameplay twist with the Hornet, the game’s first flying enemy that can snatch players off the ground and drop them mid-air. Players can also take control of two new vehicles, including the mission-exclusive Forklift and the heavily armed Thrasher APC, which appears across multiple maps. A new Trials system adds daily, weekly, and seasonal objectives, offering rewards and progression incentives.

Combat also gets a boost with six new weapons, while customization expands through Cosmetic Pack 1, featuring character skins, weapon designs, and vehicle wraps. Alongside this, a stylish music video for “Tell Me When the World Stops Ending” adds a retro visual flair to the game’s universe. It is another solid update that keeps the experience lively and gives players a good reason to jump back in.
