The Anticipation for The Dead Await Is Over
The Dead Await has officially reached a major milestone, as the zombie survival deckbuilder exits Early Access and launches into Version 1.0 today. Developed by Shotx Studio and published by indie.io, the game is now available on Steam and the indie.io Store for $12.99, with a limited-time 35% launch discount.
Blending open-world exploration with caravan management and strategic deck-building, The Dead Await places players in charge of a group of survivors navigating a collapsing, zombie-infested world. From abandoned cities to hidden bunkers and hostile factions, every journey across the wasteland is dangerous and requires difficult choices. Resource management plays a critical role, as players must carefully balance hunger, injuries, sanity, and dwindling supplies while keeping their caravan alive.
Combat uses deck-building mechanics, allowing players to create unique strategies through weapon combinations, perks, and tactical synergies. Each encounter demands adaptability, especially as threats grow more unpredictable.
The full 1.0 release introduces Act III, significantly expanding the game with new locations, enemies, bosses, quests, and random events. Areas like Hope, Hell-0, and Zone 99 push players deeper into the apocalypse, offering fresh challenges and narrative progression.
New systems have also been added to enhance long-term gameplay. Players can unlock character skins, complete Z-Tasks for permanent rewards, spend Z-Coins in the Z-Shop, and store gear using the Vault Safe system. Additionally, the Arena mode in Last Haven provides high-risk encounters with valuable rewards.
With expanded progression, tougher enemies, and more content than ever, The Dead Await now delivers a complete and unforgiving survival experience. The wasteland has never felt more alive or more dangerous.
