Lovecraftian Shooter Eldritch Escape Begins Steam Playtest Registrations Today

Prepare to Enter a Decaying World in Eldritch Escape

Krystone Games and Human Qube have officially opened sign-ups for the upcoming Steam playtest of Eldritch Escape. This playtest will give players their first hands-on experience of the game when it goes live on May 22. From today, anyone interested can request access and prepare to step into a dark, Lovecraftian-inspired survival experience.

Eldritch Escape drops players into a realm devoured by an ancient, otherworldly god, where reality itself has begun to collapse. You assemble a squad of survivors and venture into decaying worlds floating within a mysterious void. Combat is fast and chaotic, but survival goes beyond simply fighting off hordes. Players must carefully navigate a network of shifting portals while managing a limited oxygen supply, adding constant pressure to every expedition.

The game also introduces a layer of strategy through squad management. You select three survivors from an expanding roster, assign a leader with unique abilities, and decide whether to push deeper into danger or retreat before it is too late. Death comes with consequences, as any lost loot remains behind in the void, waiting for a stronger team to reclaim it.

The open playtest offers a solid slice of the experience, featuring 20-minute runs, multiple heroes, and a progression system that carries forward between attempts. Each run encourages experimentation as players learn and adapt to increasingly hostile environments ruled by terrifying cosmic entities.

With its mix of action, tension, and tactical depth, Eldritch Escape is shaping up to be a promising addition to the genre. The upcoming playtest should give players a clear sense of how well it delivers on that potential.
