Independent studio Hollow Beak Games has launched a playable demo for its upcoming 2D cozy horror adventure, Vale’s Echo, on Steam alongside a brand-new trailer. In this surreal narrative journey, death is not an ending but a second chance. Players awaken as Vale, a sharp-witted yet deeply troubled soul who finds herself aboard a mysterious train bound for the underworld. The intriguing part is that she has no heartbeat, no memories, and no clear path home.
Vale’s only companion on this strange voyage is Echo, a mischievous floating skull. Echo offers her guidance, wry commentary, and the occasional nudge in the right direction. As the train moves deeper into the afterlife, Vale begins piecing together fragments of who she once was and why she ended up there.
The demo introduces the opening chapter of this eerie yet oddly comforting world. Players will also meet an eccentric cast of underworld inhabitants. This includes cheerful fish-human hybrids and morally dubious spirits running questionable operations in the shadows.
