Witness the Horror in BECROWNED
Top Hat Studios, Inc. and 13th Street Studio have unveiled a new trailer for BECROWNED, giving horror fans a closer look at the game’s increasingly strange and unsettling world. The trailer was revealed during the Horror Game Awards and confirmed that the surreal horror title will launch in Q1 2027. It will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
BECROWNED has come a long way since its original announcement. What initially drew comparisons to classic psychological horror has evolved into something much stranger, combining the gritty atmosphere of 1970s and 1980s grindhouse cinema with the dark, surreal humor of French horror from the same era. The game also incorporates Russian cultural and literary influences, giving its unsettling world a distinctive identity.
Players take on the role of Richard Torrance, a determined but deeply dissatisfied man who believes happiness can be achieved through sheer force of will. However, his constant pursuit of control only exposes a deeper emptiness. As Richard becomes trapped in a bizarre dimension, players will navigate his complicated relationships and ultimately shape his fate.
The deeper Richard ventures, the more reality begins to fall apart. Strange locations, disturbing encounters, and surreal situations blur the line between sanity and madness. It forces him to confront whether his biggest enemy is the world around him or himself.
BECROWNED is currently in development for PC and consoles. The team is planning to launch all the versions simultaneously in Q1 2027.
With its unusual mix of psychological horror, grindhouse aesthetics, and surreal humor, it is shaping up to be a particularly strange horror experience worth keeping an eye on.
