Find the Treasures in Caribbean: Legend Age of Pirates
Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates has officially launched on Steam today, bringing a refreshed version of a cult classic pirate RPG to PC players. Publisher BlackMark Studio and Valkyrie Initiative announced the release alongside developer ReCon Team, confirming the game is available for $19.99. The title serves as a standalone remaster of Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships, updating the experience with modernized controls, a cleaner interface, and several quality-of-life improvements while maintaining its open sandbox design.
Set across the 17th-century Caribbean, the game combines naval battles, land exploration, and large-scale navigation on a strategic global map. Players can step into the shoes of the famous pirate Peter Blood or create their own captain, including the option to play as a female protagonist. From there, the adventure unfolds as players carve out their own pirate career through trading, privateering, treasure hunting, warfare, and conquest.
Unlike many story-driven RPGs, the game emphasizes freedom. There are no strict story timers or forced objectives, allowing players to choose their own path. Players may serve colonial powers, earn letters of marque, recruit companions, build fleets, and conquer settlements while tackling more than 20 major side quests along with hundreds of procedurally generated missions. The world also features historical characters, hidden ruins, buried treasure, and bustling trade routes.
The remaster runs on the Caribbean Legend engine and draws heavily from years of work by the Sea Dogs modding community. The release also includes support for Steam Achievements, Steam Workshop, and Steam Cloud, along with over 40 achievements available at launch and additional updates planned for the future.
