Decadent Heir Opens Steam Playtest for Russian Games Festival 2026

Experience an Updated Version of Decadent Heir

Valkyrie Initiative has officially kicked off a new playtest for its upcoming narrative RPG, Decadent Heir, now live on Steam as part of the Russian Games Festival 2026. The event highlights titles from Russian-speaking developers worldwide, giving players an early look at several in-development projects.

The limited-time playtest began on May 1 and will run until May 15. Players who had previously signed up have already received access, while new participants can still request entry through the game’s Steam page, with approvals being handled manually throughout the event.

This latest build offers a refreshed version of the game’s opening chapter, bringing noticeable improvements to both storytelling and gameplay systems. Compared to its earlier demo, the playtest introduces full Russian voice acting, Steam achievements, an integrated feedback system, and a special in-game reward for those who complete it.

One of the standout additions is the exclusive “Lucky Charm” talent, which becomes available to players who finish the playtest achievement. This ability slightly increases the odds when making risky decisions, a core mechanic that defines the game’s branching narrative. Choices in Decadent Heir go beyond simple success or failure, often leading to major consequences such as altered relationships, shifting political outcomes, or even the protagonist’s death.

Set in the final years of Imperial Russia, the game places players in the role of a noble character navigating life from childhood to adulthood. With multiple paths ranging from revolution to civil service, each decision shapes a unique story.

With its evolving systems and strong focus on player choice, Decadent Heir is shaping up to be a promising narrative-driven experience worth keeping an eye on.
