Prepare Your Gun for Monsters and Me
Monsters and Me, the relentlessly chaotic top-down arcade shooter from developer GhettoCo and publisher indie.io, is out now on PC via Steam and GOG. It is available for $8.99 USD, with a limited-time 20% launch discount. Designed around fast, round-based carnage, the game drops players into a nonstop onslaught of slime-mutant rage freaks with zero concern for personal safety or survival odds.
Each run wastes no time getting to the point. Flip the power back on, stock up on absurdly powerful weapons and supers, and brace yourself as wave after wave of bloodthirsty monsters flood the screen. You will die. Often. Usually in spectacular fashion. Then you’ll laugh, reload, and jump straight back in, hopefully a little smarter than last time.
Players can tackle the chaos solo or team up with a friend in local co-op. Here, coordination quickly gives way to panic and friendly fire-adjacent mishaps. The arsenal includes 18 upgradable weapons, ranging from shotguns and rifles to flamethrowers, each offering three upgrade levels. On top of that, the game layers in 12 special abilities, five perks, and four playable characters: Brian, Bob, Nina, and Tony, all armed with their own personalities, catchphrases, and questionable survival instincts.
Randomized enemy waves, power-ups, and weapon drops ensure that no two runs ever feel the same. Fluid controls, crunchy pixel-art carnage, and over-the-top gore keep the action readable even when the screen fills with slime. Comedic cutscenes and meme-ready moments make Monsters and Me just as entertaining to watch as it is to play, especially when everything goes horribly wrong.
Uncover the truth behind the slime outbreak, refine your loadout, and carve your legacy as a post-apocalyptic slime-slayer. Or don’t. Either way, you’ll have fun doing it.
