A New Story and Weapons Are Coming to Stalker 2
Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl is set to expand with a major free update arriving on December 16, bringing fresh story content and a new weapon to GSC Game World’s open-world shooter. The update, titled Stories Untold, continues to build on the game’s bleak atmosphere while opening up new corners of the Chornobyl Anomalous Zone.
According to details shared on the PlayStation Blog, the new storyline begins with an emergency transmission that draws players toward the western edge of the Zone. This unexplored area introduces seven new locations, six new characters, and several hours of additional gameplay. GSC Game World encourages players to focus on the Red Forest region. Here, careful observation and sound judgment will shape how events unfold. Notable locations within the area include the eerie Fairy Tale Pioneer Camp and the long-abandoned Old Mine, both of which offer narrative threads and environmental storytelling.
The update also expands Stalker 2’s arsenal. Alongside the game’s existing lineup of more than 30 weapons, players will gain access to the GP37V2 rifle. Designed for tactically skilled players, the rifle favors precision over raw firepower. It does not support full automatic fire, but can be used in burst or single-shot modes. The weapon comes equipped with a suppressor and a low magnification scope, rewarding careful aim and calculated engagement.
Beyond story and combat additions, Stories Untold introduces a new hub area in the Burnt Forest. This space allows players to meet NPCs and safely store equipment. Several existing locations will also feel more alive, with other Stalkers returning to inhabit the Zone.
Earlier this year, GSC Game World spoke about the difficult development of Stalker 2 due to the war and unexpected setbacks, making this update another meaningful step forward for the project.
