Enter the Dystopian World of Screamer
Milestone has confirmed the return of one of its most iconic series. Screamer, known as Bleifuss in German-speaking regions, is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 26, 2026. The announcement took place during The Game Awards 2025, where the studio also revealed a new story trailer that highlights the tone and scope of the game.
Screamer draws inspiration from classic JRPGs and places players in the middle of an underground street racing tournament ruled by five rival teams. Each team consists of a leader and two racers, with their own reasons for joining the competition. Their personal histories, rivalries, and hidden motives shape the campaign. Progress comes from experiencing the interconnected storylines by playing through every character.
The game takes place in a dystopian world filled with bright anime-influenced visuals and futuristic style. More than thirty minutes of animated cutscenes carry the narrative, produced by Polygon Pictures, a respected Japanese studio with a long history in high-quality animation. Well-known voice actors Troy Baker and Aleks Le portray two of the central characters and add weight to the dramatic moments.
The newly released trailer sets the tone for the experience, offering a first look at the atmosphere. The game blends arcade racing with layered combat mechanics and introduces several new ideas. Twin stick controls allow precise driving and fast reactions. The Echo system ties the story directly to gameplay by asking players to manage two resources called Sync and Entropy. Players require them to trigger offensive and defensive abilities during races.
Screamer arrives on March 26, 2026, and is already available for pre-order. A Collector’s Edition with physical and digital items will also be available in limited numbers.
