GunZ: The Duel Is Launching Its Second Playtest Next Week

Check Out the Improvements of GunZ: The Duel

Masangsoft has announced that GunZ: The Duel will return to Steam for a second global playtest, running from December 11 to 14 (PST). This new session builds on the momentum of the earlier closed test, with the studio layering in upgrades shaped directly by community feedback gathered from Medal.tv clips, Discord conversations, and in-game reports.

The team has released a detailed changelog outlining a broad sweep of improvements. On the technical front, the playtest introduces a higher tick rate, an adjustable field-of-view slider, anti-lead settings ranging from 0 to 100, and smoother network performance. Combat also receives attention, with refreshed multi-kill indicators and audio cues, optional enemy outlines, refined HP bar colors, and freedom from camera lock during wall runs.

Additionally, the developers aim to streamline the experience through new system updates. Matches now begin even if some players don’t hit ready. The team has strengthened AFK detection and polished the chat and shop interfaces for better clarity. They have also resolved several long-standing issues, including HP and AP display errors, scoreboard inconsistencies, and map clipping. Smaller enhancements round out the package. You can center the combat UI, use a brief mouse-wheel delay, try practice weapons for experimentation, and access a relocated ring equipment interface.

According to Game Director PD Max, this phase represents months of tuning shaped by player insight, to update GunZ’s signature style while retaining the elements that define its fast, acrobatic identity.

The playtest will be accessible directly through the game’s Steam store page once registration opens. Participants will be approved through Steam’s access system, and a selection of newsletter subscribers will receive keys by email. The session will remain live from December 11 at 6:00 PM to December 14 at 6:00 PM (PST).
