Take a Look at the Vision of Marathon
Bungie has released a new ViDoc titled ‘Vision of Marathon’ offering a deeper look into the studio’s upcoming PvPvE survival extraction shooter. Set in a bleak sci-fi universe, Marathon places players on the abandoned colony of Tau Ceti IV, where survival depends on strategy, awareness, and calculated risk. Players step into the role of biocybernetic Runners, navigating hostile environments while facing enemy security forces, rival Runners, and ever-changing threats.
The ViDoc highlights several major updates shaping the overall experience. The developers are introducing Ambient chat to enhance immersion, while a solo queue option allows players to enter matches alone. Bungie also revealed the Rook Shell, a limited loadout designed for joining matches already in progress. Alongside these features, the team has refined the survival mechanics, increased environmental threat levels, and improved both visual fidelity and the user interface to create a more cohesive and atmospheric world.
Marathon will launch in March 2026, with opportunities for players to try the game ahead of release. It will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, supporting full cross-play and cross-save across platforms. The game is currently planned at a price point of $39.99/€39.99/£34.99, with regional pricing to be confirmed.
Purchasing Marathon grants access to all gameplay updates released throughout the year, including new maps, Runner sleeves, and limited-time events. Season 1 will open access to the Cryo Archive, the first deck of the UESC Marathon ship. Bungie has emphasized competitive integrity, confirming there are no pay-to-win systems. Reward passes will remain permanently valid, allowing players to earn content at their own pace, including from previously released passes. Further details on seasonal content and the long-term roadmap will arrive in January 2026.
