shapingStep Inside the Cozy World of Greenhearth Necromancer
Silverstring Media, working with indie.io, has released the first public demo of Greenhearth Necromancer on Steam. It is a cozy and witchy semi-idle gardening game set on a small apartment balcony where life and death share the same soil. The demo is now available on Steam, giving players an early look at the world ahead of its full release.
The story follows a young necromancer who inherits a balcony garden from a late grandmother. Guided by the grandmother’s familiar spirit, players will revive plants, brew potions, and cast gentle spells. All while shape an ecosystem where thriving blooms and undead sprouts grow together. Written by the BAFTA-nominated creator of I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, the game explores grief, early adulthood, community, and the quiet comfort of caring for a neglected space.
The experience blends the charm of a small witchy gardening sim with the relaxed flow of a semi-idle game. The balcony changes over time, encouraging players to step away and return to see what has grown, wilted, or transformed. New materials may appear, withered plants may be ready for resurrection, and new narrative moments may unfold as time passes.
The garden does not demand constant oversight. Plants may flourish, fade, fall to pests, or sink into decay, yet each shift becomes part of the natural rhythm. Brewing potions for pest and fungus control, reviving plants as undead companions, and tending a mix of living and spectral flora create a space where change is expected and even meaningful. Whether pruning and crafting or letting the balcony drift quietly in the background during work or study, players can shape a garden that grows alongside their daily routine.
