Survival Comes at a Price in Dunebound Tactics
Terahard Studios and indie.io have announced that Dunebound Tactics, a roguelite turn-based tactical RPG, will launch on Steam on September 14, 2026. A free demo is already available, while Gamescom attendees can also try the game this week at the indie.io booth in Hall 10.2, Stand F011g.
Set across a harsh desert known as the Sands, Dunebound Tactics puts players in charge of a caravan searching for the mysterious Haven. The game revolves around Elios, a powerful resource that can alter life and death. Every crew member carries Elios, so players must make difficult decisions when an injury occurs in battle. They can either send them to the infirmary or extract their Elios, leaving the survivor as a husk.
Combat lets you manipulate the battlefield rather than simply hiding behind cover. Players can destroy or move obstacles, create ice or explosive pillars, place mines and traps, and even push enemies into hazards prepared several turns earlier. Caravan abilities can also support the team directly from outside the battlefield.
Each run features dynamic world generation, while destroyed caravans from previous attempts can provide useful modules and even new survivors. Players can build their squad from 15 classes, 16 traits, and more than 50 modules while facing 38 enemy types.
The demo has also been updated following Steam Next Fest feedback, bringing reworked encounters, improved enemy AI, and a broader balance pass.
With its mix of tough decisions and destructible battlefields, Dunebound Tactics looks like a promising addition to the tactical RPG scene.
